Major shopping precincts in Guangzhou are rolling out a rich lineup of performances and exhibitions for China's 2026 National Day holiday, which will run from October 1 to October 7.

Visitors can enjoy immersive urban leisure experiences without travelling far out of the city.

Grandview Mall has kicked off an art carnival that will run through the National Day holiday, transforming the mall into an expansive public-art venue where art is brought out of galleries to the general public.

At its north plaza stand monumental installations built from roughly 50 to 60 tonnes of repurposed waste materials, including drink cans, tyres and fishing nets. Open to the public free of charge, these artworks reimagine discarded items as post-apocalyptic scenery. It is a popular photo spot for visitors snapping social-media-worthy holiday shots.
