Recently, Eliza, a Russian international student, visited the exhibition Guangzhou Through the Millennia: A Special Exhibition Marking 2,240 Years Since the City's Founding and 1,800 Years of Its Name. 

Standing before an inscribed brick from the Western Jin Dynasty, she paused for a long time. Carved on the ancient brick are the two characters “Guangzhou” — the earliest surviving artifact bearing the city's name. 

She was surprised to learn that the city where she had been studying for years had kept the same name for 1,800 years. Visiting the exhibition, she said, was a real eye-opener.
