The Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou innovation cluster has once again ranked first in the World Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO) 2026 Global Innovation Index Top 100 Science and Technology Clusters, released on September 8 in Geneva. 

It marks the second consecutive year the cluster has claimed the top spot, further consolidating the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's leading position in global technological innovation. The Macao-Zhuhai cluster also made the top 100 for the third straight year.

PCT international patent applications played a key role in supporting the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou cluster's continued rise. The latest WIPO ranking reinforces the Greater Bay Area's status as a world-class innovation hub and intellectual property highland.
