Guangzhou's immigration checkpoints processed over 2.8 million cross-border travelers as of August 15 since the summer rush began July 1, surpassing last year's entire summer total 14 days ahead of schedule. The figure marks a 15% year-on-year increase.
As the Greater Bay Area's core gateway, Baiyun International Airport handled over 2.7 million travelers during the period, up 19%, with a single-day peak of 62,000. The Pazhou Ferry Terminal recorded double its usual daily volume, driven by study tours, family trips, and short-haul tour groups across the GBA.

Foreign arrivals surged 45% to over 460,000. More than 210,000 entered under visa-free policies — unilateral, mutual, and 240-hour transit exemptions — accounting for 45% of all inbound foreigners. Russia, Malaysia, and Australia topped the source markets.
