An Arab entrepreneur with 100 cats and a dog, and the owner of one of China's biggest pet influencers. This is Ashraf's story in Guangzhou.

Ashraf has called Guangzhou home for 13 years. What started as an international student journey grew into a business, and eventually, a home filled with 100 cats and a dog.

One of his cats, a Munchkin cat named Messi, became an internet sensation with over one million followers across social media. That fame led Ashraf to launch his own pet food brand, tailored to his animals' needs.

However, it's not just about business. In 2024, he rescued a stray Alaskan Malamute named Domi. She was skinny, sick, and later diagnosed with a tumour. Ashraf never gave up on her, saying caring for Domi was as demanding as looking after 100 cats. After a long struggle, Domi recently had successful surgery and is now back in Guangzhou, healthy and full of energy.

Ashraf has travelled to 48 countries, but he'll tell you: "The most opportunities are in China and the place that feels most like home is Guangzhou."
