Johsue Cantu II from the University of California, Riverside, was particularly impressed by the measures taken to protect the Chinese white dolphin (Sousa chinensis) during the construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. 

"The bridge not only connects urban economies, but its design and construction also fully consider the protection of endangered species, demonstrating China's commitment to ecological conservation in major infrastructure projects," Johsue said.
