Guangdong's marine economy exceeded 2.04 trillion yuan in 2025, up 4.4% in real terms year on year and accounting for 18.6% of the national total, data released on World Oceans Day (June 8) showed. The province has now ranked first for 31 straight years.

The province's marine foreign trade showed strong resilience. Exports of ships and wind turbines reached 35.96 billion yuan, up 18.5% year on year. Imports and exports of marine products with Belt and Road partner countries totaled 100.64 billion yuan, rising 6.9% and comprising 48.4% of the provincial total. Major trade fairs, including the China Marine Economy Expo and the Shenzhen International Fisheries Expo, generated over 40 billion yuan in intended transactions in 2025, helping Guangdong expand its international markets.
