At the Guangzhou Promotion Conference held on June 2, Pakistani Ambassador Hashmi praised Guangzhou as a millennial trade hub that has witnessed the tangible fruits of China-Pakistan cooperation. He highlighted the Orange Line Metro in Lahore — a flagship CPEC project built by Guangzhou Metro — which now serves hundreds of thousands of commuters daily.

"Standing here today, one cannot help but feel the energy of a place that moves with purpose," Hashmi said, as Guangzhou launched its Investment Attraction Year and China advances its 15th Five-Year Plan. The deep bond between Guangzhou and Lahore, he noted, goes far beyond their sister-city status.
