The roster of Chinese competitors for the 48th WorldSkills Competition was released on May 9. The world's largest and most prestigious skills contest will take place in Shanghai this September.

Among the 71 Chinese competitors, 17 are from Guangdong. They will represent China in 16 skill categories, accounting for nearly one-fourth of the 64 events at the competition. Another 15 contestants from Guangdong have been named as alternates.

Guangdong's selected competitors will compete in traditional strengths such as fine woodworking, refrigeration and air conditioning, CNC milling, robot systems integration, jewelry processing, and visual merchandising display.

This year, Guangdong will also see its first contestant in restaurant service, as well as entries in two newly added events: software testing and digital interactive media design.
