Tech hub Shenzhen's first pilot production line for humanoid robots has commenced operations, marking a key step in advancing the manufacturing of robots from prototypes to scaled production.

The production line, which launched on April 10, is located in Longhua district. Designed to manufacture Leju Robotics' Roban 2 research and education robot, it can assemble a unit in two hours and produce 500 to 1,000 robots annually.

After passing strict certification, the product will move into mass production at a factory in Foshan. Co-built by Leju Robotics and a high-end intelligent equipment manufacturing company, the factory features China's first automated production line with an annual capacity of over 10,000 humanoid robots — rolling out one unit every 30 minutes.

The production line covers 24 precision assembly processes. Before shipment, each robot must complete 77 comprehensive inspections and 41 scenario-based tests that simulate operating conditions.

This year, China's humanoid robot market production is expected to grow by as much as 94 percent compared to last year.
