On February 2, during the First Senior Officials' Meeting and Related Meetings of APEC China 2026 in Guangzhou, Zheng Yongnian, a renowned Chinese expert, spoke highly of the APEC mechanism. 

He emphasized that its design is conducive to building consensus through dialogue. 

Zheng argued that further opening-up is essential, stating that only through openness that factors of production can flow freely, and only then can development be achieved.
