On December 25, Guangzhou's Haizhu District officially launched the country's first "aggregate delivery" route for drones. Using this service, customers can order and receive drone-delivered food instantly, with no extra delivery fees.

"My first 'flying food' experience was amazing! I placed an order through the drone delivery section on the Taobao Now app and got it in about 10 minutes. It was super fast, and really novel," said Mr. Liu, a Haizhu resident, after trying the new "food-by-air" service.

Reportedly, this particular order traveled from a location 6 kilometers away. By using the newly opened Poly Plaza–Huaxin Center flight route, the drone delivery cut the trip time by over 50% compared to ground delivery, which would have taken more than 20 minutes by bike and passed through 15 traffic lights.
