The opening ceremony of the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Industry Conference & Guangdong AI & Robotics Skills Competition (XAIR) was held on Dec 13. During the ceremony, the Guangdong AI & Robotics Industry Development White Paper (2025) and the AIR Pearl River Index Report (2025) were officially released.

The report places Guangdong in the national top tier alongside Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, ranking first on four key metrics: enterprise strength, growth potential, industry application and industrial linkage.

Core AI output in the province reached 220 billion yuan in 2024, up about 22 percent, while robotics revenue hit 99.2 billion yuan. As of November 2025, Guangdong is home to more than 3,700 AI and robotics firms, including over 2,000 core AI enterprises, 350-plus national "little giant" specialists and over 150 listed companies.
