Greater Bay Area Contemporary Art Exhibition kicks off in Guangzhou
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Contemporary Art Exhibition opened on September 17 at the Guangdong Museum of Art’s new venue, serving as a flagship event of the 5th Greater Bay Area Cultural and Arts Festival. Organized by the Guangdong Museum of Art, it is the first large-scale contemporary art exhibition regionally curated around the theme of the Greater Bay Area.
The exhibition brings together nearly 40 artists from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, showcasing a diverse range of works from traditional Lingnan painting to experimental avant-garde art. It traces the artistic evolution of the region, from deeply rooted local narratives to expanding global perspectives.
“The Greater Bay Area is uniquely positioned to write a new chapter in 21st-century global contemporary art, leveraging its geographic advantages and innovative spirit. We anticipate continued cultural innovation and value creation through cross-border integration,” said Wang Shaoqiang, Director of the Guangdong Museum of Art.
The exhibition will run through October 31.
