On June 29, Guangzhou Metro launched three new segments:
Line 10 (Xilang to Yangji East)
Line 12 West (Xunfenggang to Guangzhou Gymnasium)
Line 12 East (Ersha Island to Higher Education Mega Center South)
The expansion adds 46 km of track and 16 stations, bringing the network’s total operational scale to 751 km and 309 stations (counting transfer stations only once). This cements Guangzhou Metro’s position among China’s top three metro systems by size.
Once ridership stabilizes on Lines 10 and 12, the network’s daily passenger flow is projected to rise by over 500,000 compared to pre-expansion levels. This will make Guangzhou the third Chinese city (after Beijing and Shanghai) to sustain workday ridership above 10 million, marking a major transit milestone.
