
By March 17, China's new 240-hour visa-free transit policy had been in effect for three months. According to statistics from Guangzhou's Baiyun Immigration Inspection Station, as of 10 a.m. on March 17, the Baiyun Airport port had recorded over 4,700 passengers benefiting from the policy.

This represented a 75 percent increase compared to the number of entries under the previous 72/144-hour transit visa-free policy and a 62 percent year-on-year increase.

The top three source countries for the 240-hour visa-free transit applications were Russia, the U.S., and the U.K., with Russian travelers seeing the largest increase of over 2,000 passengers compared to previous figures.
