Video | Traditional Cantonese Cuisine: Pig Blood Curd Soup 猪红汤
语音播报

Pig blood curd soup is a popular soup in Guangdong, which is often cooked with leek and pepper powder.

It is believed by the Cantonese to have the effect of detoxification and replenishing the blood.

This video features pig blood curd soup produced by A Yi Pig Blood Curd Soup Restaurant (阿一猪红汤 ) boasting an exclusive recipe that won't be sold by its boss for 350,000 yuan a dozen years ago.

Full text of the video transcript:

If you come here and don't order my soup, you are not my real customer.

Many people have tried to duplicate my soup, but failed.

A dozen years ago, someone asked me to sell my recipe for 350,000 yuan, but I rejected.

Striking gold out of it is not my goal, but earning a living is.

My principle of doing things is“To do the best or not to do.”

If the soup is not cooked well, I would rather dump it.

The pig blood curd in the soup tastes very smooth and even the pepper powder is fried and ground by myself, so such a bowl of soup won't be served in any another places of Guangzhou.

You have to come here to enjoy such a delicacy.

A Yi's Top Giblets Soup is more delicious with 250 grams of pig blood curds and 100 grams of beef briskets in it.

You won't find the same soup with such a high quality anywhere else, even nationwide.

Many customers would ask me, “The soup is so delicious. What materials have you added?”

I would reply, “I've added my love and my conscience. That's why every dish here is a dish of conscience.”
