Crape myrtle trees are one of the most densely planted species in Guangzhou. Every year when summer comes, the city welcomes a sea of purple blossom. Planted at both sides of roads, they form a beautiful purple corridor of flowers. Because of the long summer days, the crape myrtle’s flower season is particularly long in the Lingnan region where Guangzhou located in, lasting from late May to August.
