The Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Museum, built on the former site of the Wuxianmen Power Plant(五仙门发电厂)on Yanjiang Xilu(沿江西路)of Yuexiu district, is about to open to the public.

The museum will exhibit valuable literature and cultural relics which tell the stories of overseas Chinese from Guangzhou and their contributions to the city in different historical periods. It will also reproduce the scene of workers from Guangzhou's Huadu district who sailed abroad to help dig the Panama Canal in the 19th century.

The museum will enable visitors to learn more about the achievements of overseas Chinese from Guangzhou.
Guangzhou is the hometown of more than 4 million Chinese nationals residing abroad, topping those of other Chinese cities. Their footprints spread across over 130 countries and regions in the world.
