2. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) will open its first semester on September 1 this year. Located in Nansha district of the city, the campus covers an area of 1669 mu (about 1.1 million square meters) and takes two phases to finish the whole project. The first-stage project site will be equipped with a central science and research facility area, life service blocks, dormitories, a sports village, as well as energy, data, and fire protection centers.
