With all 16 generating units in operation in July 2022, Baihetan Hydropower Station, located on the Jinsha River, the upper section of the Yangtze, will become the world's second-largest hydropower station, generating an average of 62.4 billion kWh of electricity every year, second only to the Three Gorges Dam project.
By reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 52 million tons every year, it can help achieve the China's carbon-peak and carbon-neutralization goals.
