Three COVID-19 medium-risk areas in Baiyun district were downgraded this morning, leaving the whole of Guangzhou classified as a low-risk area for COVID-19.
Starting from April 25, all but the elementary schools located in lockdown and partial lockdown areas are to resume offline classes in Guangzhou, said Chen Xueming, deputy director of the city's education bureau, at a press conference on April 22. Also to resume in-person classes on the same day are the kindergartens in the city.
According to the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic and the need of prevention and control of the virus, Guangzhou's Baiyun district has decided to resume offline classes at junior and senior high schools, institutions of higher learning and vocational schools from April 25, except for those in lockdown and partial lockdown areas.
All the teachers, students, staff of junior and senior high schools and people living with them are required to produce negative nucleic acid test results taken within 48 hours before returning to schools.
For teachers, students and staff of boarding schools, closed-loop management must be implemented, while those of day schools without dorms should take nucleic acid tests on a daily basis and commute only between schools and homes.
