As one of the eight major cuisines in China, Cantonese cuisine features vastly diverse ingredients and exquisite production, emphasizing the color, fragrance, taste, shape and freshness of food. Cantonese dishes are of light taste, and change seasonally to highlight freshness and nutrition.
粤菜是中国八大菜系之一，其食材多样、制作精细，讲求色、香、味、形、鲜。粤菜的口味较为清淡，配合季节性变化，突出其新鲜与营养科学的特点。
In areas around Beijing Lu, Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street and Xiguan Food Street, well-known snacks, dim sum and flavored food are everywhere. Soup, tea and late-night snacks are also part of Guangzhou's food culture.

The city is home to a large number of time-honored Cantonese restaurants, Chaozhou cuisine restaurants, bustling tea houses and restaurants serving other Chinese cuisines, such as Hunan restaurants, Sichuan restaurants, hot pot restaurants, Shandong restaurants and Huaiyang restaurants.
