1. Guangzhou is expecting a new wave of weak cold air between January 13 and 14, but the weather is likely to be sunny and dry. It will be a good time for people to clean the houses and do the laundry this week, as the city is forecast to see less sunshine in mid-to-late January.



2. China released the first batch of blocks for tourism and leisure purposes on January 10. Fifty-five blocks nationwide made it to the list, including the Yongqingfang area (永庆坊) in Guangzhou.

3. A total of 37 bus lines in Guangzhou will be adjusted between late January and early February, because of the sharp decline in passenger flow during the winter holiday and the Spring Festival holiday. Eleven routes will be suspended temporarily during the period.



4. Guangzhou has designated lawn areas in 24 parks as public campsites, as part of the city's efforts to provide people with more green leisure space.

5. To facilitate passenger travel before the Spring Festival, the Bus Terminal at Guangzhou South Railway Station has opened a new bus route from Guangzhou to Luzhou (泸州) in Sichuan province and will offer more frequent inter-city bus services to cities in Guizhou and Hainan provinces as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

6. Xiamao Request Bus Stop (夏茅招呼站) was relocated 200 meters southward from its previous site on January 10, getting closer to the bus station of Xiamao Coach Station. The stop provides bus services from Guangzhou to other cities in Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi and Sichuan provinces as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
