1. As the COVID-19 situation improves in Guangzhou, exit B of Taojin Station of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 reopened on December 21. Seven bus lines — 10, 245, 247, 482, 483, 546 and night 4 — also resumed service in Taojin area, according to the latest notices from local transportation authorities.

2. The upcoming New Year holiday, which lasts from January 1 to 3, is expected to see millions of Chinese hit the road for travel. However, highways nationwide will not be toll-free during the three-day break for small-size vehicles with less than seven seats.

3. A pedestrian bridge over the crossroads of Jingxi Lu (京溪路) and Guangzhou Dadao Bei (广州大道北) was put into use on December 20, which will greatly enhance traffic efficiency during peak hours.

4. A new bullet train route from Wenzhou (温州) in Zhejiang province to Guangzhou will start service on January 10, 2022. The whole journey is estimated to take about 8 hours, much shorter than the previous 23 hours.


The train will pass a dozen cities including Cangnan, Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou, Jinjiang and Xiamen in Fujian province, and Lufeng, Shanwei, Huizhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan in Guangdong province.  



5. The registration of electric bicycles in Guangzhou is in full swing, with over 200,000 e-bikes registered since the registration began on November 2, and registration spots in the city have reached 856 by December 21.


Citizens can submit registration applications and make appointments through the official WeChat account “Guangzhou Traffic Police (广州交警)”, and then complete the registration procedure at their selected e-bike registration spots.
