1. A new wave of cold air is expected to strike Guangdong province, bringing along strong wind and rain from the night of December 16. The temperature is forecast to drop 3℃ to 6℃ on December 17.

2. An imported case of the highly transmissible Omicron variant of COVID-19 was confirmed on December 14 in Guangzhou. It is the first time the variant was detected in the city.

The patient, a 67-year-old male, had taken a flight back to Guangzhou on December 11, after being quarantined outside the city after spending time overseas. He tested positive for the virus on December 13 during home quarantine. Genome sequencing results later revealed that he was infected with the Omicron variant. As of noon yesterday, residents living in nearby areas had tested negative for the virus.

3. Two asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were identified on December 13 in Dalang township (大朗镇) of Dongguan, Guangdong province.

To curb the spread of the pandemic, regular intercity bus routes between Guangzhou and Dongguan are temporarily adjusted starting today. Bus Nos. 368, 369, 378 will terminate at Youyilu Station (友谊路站). And Bus lines Zengcheng 75 (增城75) and Nansha K6 (南沙K6) are suspended.

4. Starting from December 20, water bus line S07 (Tianzi Wharf - Fangzhi Wharf) will stop carrying bicycles, including shared bikes, electric bikes and tricycles, for safety reasons, according to the passenger ferry company of Guangzhou Public Transport Group.
