1. Affected by a new wave of cold air, Guangdong will stay dry and sunny from December 1 to 3. The lowest temperature in Guangzhou will be only 8℃ tomorrow morning.

2. A research team of Hong Kong University announced on November 30 that they have successfully isolated the Omicron variant virus from clinical specimens. The isolated virus strain will be used to develop and produce inactivated whole virus vaccines.

3. Over 1,000 kilometers long ecological belts will be built along rivers in Guangzhou by the end of 2022. So far, 778 kilometers of such belts have been put into use, with some of the popular ones located  in Yuejiang Lu (阅江路) in Haizhu district, Dayuan village (大源村) in Baiyun district and Dashahe (大沙河) in Liwan district.

4. Guangzhou Wangfujing Department (广州王府井百货) in Dongshankou (东山口), Yuexiu district, closed business on November 30 after 25 years of operation.

5. The new Guangzhou Cantonese Opera House, located in Zhujiang New Town, is expected to open next July. The Opera House will be a new city landmark, capable of accommodating over 1,800 audiences and will stage up-to-date plays and movies.
