Chinese mainland reports 12 new locally transmitted cases

The Chinese mainland on July 21 reported 12 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, of which 11 were reported in Jiangsu province and one in Yunnan province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on July 22.


Also reported were 38 new imported cases, of which 21 were reported in Yunnan, seven in Guangdong, five in Sichuan, two each in Shanghai and Shaanxi, and one in Hunan.


One suspected case that arrived from outside the mainland was reported in Shanghai.


No new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on July 21.


10 areas in east China city raise COVID-19 risk levels

 

Ten communities in the city of Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu province, heightened their COVID-19 risk levels from low to medium on July 22, according to the municipal government.


Citywide testing of 9.3 million residents has been underway since July 21. People lined up and waited all night across the city for samples to be taken.


Personnel movement restrictions have been imposed and residents have been asked not to leave the city unless necessary. Anyone wanting to leave the city, either by train, plane or bus, must present a negative result of COVID-19 test within 48 hours.
