People in Guangzhou who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines can make a reservation online for the second dose starting June 6, Zhang Zhoubin, deputy director of the Guangzhou Center for Disease Prevention and Control, said at a news conference.

Personal reservation for a second dose is available for local residents in areas considered low-risk for COVID-19 transmission and who took the first dose over 21 days ago. People who meet both conditions can make reservations through the WeChat mini program "广州健康通".

Zhang noted that online reservations are a must for receiving the second jab, and the two shots of the COVID-19 vaccine should be administered in medical institutions in the same district of the city.

Meanwhile, people who have visited the city's closed-off areas, had a fever record of over 37.3℃ or experienced a dry cough, a sore throat, loss of smell or taste, diarrhea or lack of strength since May 20, should present a negative nucleic acid test result issued after June 6 to get vaccinated.

Guangzhou temporarily suspended personal reservations for vaccinations starting May 31, as most of the city's medical staff have been sent to conduct mass testing to screen suspected COVID-19 cases.
