The Exhibition of Lingnan Monk's Painting and Calligraphy & Haichuang Temple's Culture and Art Exhibition kicked off on May 13 and will last till August 29. Precious compositions of Zen masters and literati in the Lingnan region are presented at the exhibition.

Monks in the Lingnan Region flourished during the transition period from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. They often gathered with scholars to paint, write poems and give lectures to the public, which has become a unique cultural phenomenon in the development history of religion and art in Guangdong province and even the whole country.

Haichuang Temple(海幢寺)in Haizhu district was the main venue where the monks held cultural activities and has made great contributions in facilitating art exchanges between the East and West.
