Air Tanzania on May 8 opened direct flights between Guangzhou and Dar es Salaam, the largest city and former capital of Tanzania in eastern Africa. This is the first international passenger route launched this year in Guangzhou's Baiyun International Airport.

According to the airline, the service is operated by the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner which features 22 business class seats and 240 economy class seats and will run fortnightly given the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Flight TC402 is scheduled to depart from Dar es Salaam at 5 a.m. (local time) on Saturdays every other week and arrive in Guangzhou at 9 p.m.. While the return trip, flight TC403, will leave Guangzhou at 11 p.m. and reach Dar es Salaam at 5 a.m. on Sundays.

The new air route will help promote people-to-people exchanges between Tanzania and China and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, Ladislaus Matindi, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air Tanzania, told the press.
