The Phase Ⅲ of Shijing (Guangzhou) – Dawang (Zhaoqing) section of the Guangzhou – Foshan – Zhaoqing Expressway (广佛肇高速公路广州石井至肇庆大旺段三期) opens to the traffic this morning (April 25), meaning that the whole expressway is officially operational after years of construction since 2013. 

As the fastest link between Guangzhou in Guangdong province and Wuzhou in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the expressway will slash the travel time between Baiyun district and Wuzhou by 1.5 hours.

Stretching 224 kilometers, the expressway passes through Tianhe, Huangpu, Baiyun districts in Guangzhou city; Nanhai and Sanshui districts in Foshan city; as well as Dawang Xinqu, Sihui county-level city, Dinghu, Gaoyao, Duanzhou districts, and Deqing and Fengkai counties in Zhaoqing city.

It is composed of two parts—one between Shijing (Guangzhou) and Dawang (Zhaoqing) (广州石井至肇庆大旺段); the other between Dawang and Jiangkou town, Fengkai county of Zhaoqing city (肇庆大旺至封开江口段). The second part was opened to traffic in 2016.

The first part was constructed in three phases. The newly opened phase Ⅲ section, about 8.1 kilometers, starts from the Sanshui Chengxi station (in Foshan city) and terminates at Zhaoqing Dawang station (三水城西站至肇庆大旺站). And the PhasesⅠand Ⅱ road sections had been put into use in 2019 and 2020, respectively. 

As the first of its kind completed in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period of Guangzhou, the expressway is a significant part of the express link between Guangzhou's Huangpu district and Zhaoqing's Fengkai county (广州黄埔至肇庆封开（粤桂界）), a planned route in Guangdong's expressway network.
