China

 

1. China's top legislator Li Zhanshu has called for accelerated legislation to advance ecological conservation and high-quality development in the Yellow River basin.

 

2. The 129th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, kicks off this morning online. The 10-day trade event will feature some 50 virtual exhibition zones with 16 major categories of products.

 

3. From today to April 24, Guangzhou will not subject non-local cars to its traffic control rule of "pausing every four days" in the downtown area, which means such cars can travel free in Guangzhou till April 28.

 

4. Guangzhou will implement the regulation on kindergarten education starting June 1, requiring each town and sub-district to establish at least one public kindergarten based on the local demand, and forbidding kindergartens to teach children courses of the primary school. Those who violate the regulation may face a fine of up to 200,000 yuan.

 

5. Yuzhu Tunnel(鱼珠隧道) which starts from Xingang DongLu in Haizhu district, passing through the Beidisha Island and Huangpu Avenue, and ends at Shenchong in Tianhe district, will start construction in May and is expected to be completed in 4 years.

 

6. Data from China's online travel agency Qunar show that bookings of air tickets for the upcoming May Day Holiday(May 1-5) have substantially surpassed that of the same period of 2019 and increased 25 times of that of the same period last year. Travelers are advised to leave on April 26 to avoid the travel peak and soaring ticket price on April 30.

 

7. China's national observatory on Wednesday issued a blue alert for sandstorms in the northern part of the country.

 

8. The Chinese mainland recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, all from overseas.

1. The United States and Iran will reconvene indirect talks aimed at reviving the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal on Thursday in Vienna, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

 

2. The chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi on Wednesday told a joint Chinese media interview that the agency will closely monitor developments on Japan's plan to dump radioactive wastewater from the nuclear disaster in Fukushima.
