
With the new railway operation plan coming into effect from April 10, Shipai station (石牌站) of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway (穗深城际) also started service on the same day, offering direct rail services for passenger to neighboring cities like Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan and Zhaoqing.

On April 10, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity route (穗深城际), also, for the first time, joined hands with the Foshan-Zhaoqing intercity rail (佛肇城际), a part of the Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing intercity line, to connect five cities—Zhaoqing, Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen. As a result, passengers can travel from Shipai station to Shenzhen in as short as 80 minutes and Zhaoqing in 102 minutes.
Travelers from Shenzhen can also reach Zhaoqing in as short as two hours and 37 minutes, with no need to transfer.

A journey between Guangzhou South Railway Station and Chaoshan station (潮汕站) will be cut by nearly one hour, as trains running along the route are adjusted to run at a speed of 250 km/h, up from 200km/h, according to the new railway operation plan.
