Italian art masterpieces to wow visitors in GZ

Art enthusiasts in Guangzhou are to be treated with an art feast of masterpieces by Raffaello Sanzio, also known as Raphael, one of the Renaissance masters in Italy.


The exhibition, The Art of Raffaello: Opera Omnia (《拉斐尔的艺术,不可能的相遇》), will open to the public from March 11 and last through April 25 at Guangzhou Library, presenting ro the visitors the digitized reproductions of 36 works by Raphael in high definition and life size.


The works selected for the exhibition follow the artistic path of Raphael in the different phases of his evolution, from the very first paintings of Raffaello not yet twenty years old up to his latest masterpiece.


Visitors can explore the harmony between space, figures and architecture in the master's works, check out the different portraits of famous people of his time, and less but not least, examine the landscape paintings to have a full view of the artist's talents. Exhibition goers also can take a close look at the artist's face via his self-portraits.


Recreational activities including painting workshops, reading sharing sessions, movie screening and book fair will be staged, allowing visitors to dive into the Italian art culture. Some of the activities will require reservation prior to visit.


Organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou in cooperation with Guangzhou Library, the event is deemed a symbol of the relaunch of the cultural cooperation between Italy and China, which was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
