1. Guangzhou Metro Line 22, with construction underway, may connect to Guangzhou Railway Station and become one of the few arteries in China that boast air, sea and rail transport connectivity, Guangzhou Daily reported on Monday.

 

2. Guangzhou and Suzhou have been approved to hold the 2021 Chinese Super League matches which will start reportedly on April 20, a document from the Chinese Football Association revealed on Monday.

 

3. Starting from March 15, the quota of Macao vehicles allowed to enter Hengqin in Zhuhai city will increase to 10,000 from last year's 5,000, the SAR government announced on Monday.

 

4. The two sessions, or the annual sittings of China's national legislature and the top political advisory body will kick off in Beijing on March 4, expected to map out policy focuses for the world's second-largest economy.

 

5. Shanghai relaxes rules for foreign talent. Besides global entrepreneurs and leading scientists, foreign scientific and technological researchers as well as new PhD graduates in science, engineering, agriculture and medicine are also classed as top talent, according to new regulations released on Monday by the Shanghai Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.

 

6. China Eastern Airlines became the first customer for China's home-built C919 jets as it signed a purchase contract for five aircraft from State-owned Commercial Aircraft Corp of China on Monday. The new planes will be used on routes from Shanghai to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Chengdu, according to the airline.

7. Chinese female director Chloe Zhao won the Golden Globe for best director in a motion picture for her feature film "Nomadland" on Sunday night, becoming the first Chinese woman and woman of Asian descent to win the trophy in the category in history.

 

8. The Chinese mainland recorded 11 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, all from overseas. Guangdong reported three new cases from abroad over the past 24 hours, two in Guangzhou and one in Shenzhen.

 

9. Construction of the Weighting Museum of China kicked off in Shilong Town in Dongguan, Guangdong province, on Monday. The Town is home to China's many Olympic weightlifting champions and record breakers.

1. The European Commission will present a proposal in March to create an EU-wide digital COVID-19 vaccination passport that may allow Europeans to travel more freely over the peak summer holiday period, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Monday.

 

2. The 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) will take place in the week of November 29 in Geneva, Switzerland, the WTO announced in a notice on Monday.

6. Morocco has told government departments to cease cooperation and contacts with Germany's embassy in the North African kingdom, a senior Moroccan diplomat said on Monday, without offering further details.

7. Japan's Kengo Suzuki became the first runner from East Asia to run a men's marathon in under two hours and five minutes, as he claimed the 76th and final Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon on Sunday.
