The Michelin Guide Guangzhou 2020 was officially released today (September 22), unveiling a list of gastronomic destinations in Guangzhou for gourmands. Two restaurants attracted particular attention.
The newcomer, Lingnan House (广御轩 in Chinese), located in Rosewood Hotel (瑰丽酒店) in Tianhe district, has made the list of first-star restaurants.
Imperial Treasure Fine Chinese Cuisine (御宝轩in Chinese), located in IGC plaza, has moved up in the ranking and became the city's second two-star restaurant that provides "excellent cuisine worth a detour", after Jiang by Chef Fei (江-由辉师傅主理餐厅) in 2019. The brand was founded in Singapore and features Cantonese cuisine. Its signature dishes include Steamed Live Eel with Chinese Wine, Sautéed Diced Beef with Black Sliced Garlic and Chilled Fresh Australian Abalone.

A total of 10 restaurants were rated as one-star this year. Some 46 restaurants have earned the "Michelin Plate" (米其林餐盘) award with quality food, including the Guangzhou Restaurant (Wenchang Nanlu广州酒家(文昌南路)) and Beiyuan Restaurant (北园). Another 31 restaurants received Bib Gourmand recognition for offering a good quality menu for a modest price.

Almost all the Michelin Guide restaurants in Guangzhou specialize in Cantonese cuisine. Yet three-star restaurants are still absent.
This year marks Michelin Guide's third year in Guangzhou, and the city is the guide's first stop on the Chinese mainland after the COVID-19 outbreak. According to Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide, Guangzhou has long been acclaimed as a city with gourmet food, and its catering industry has shown strong vitality, rapidly recovering from the blow of the epidemic after being shuttered for months.
