German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on August 28 that Germany and the European Union (EU) wanted to continue the conversation with China and set an example for multilateralism. 

德国总理默克尔8月28日表示，德国和欧盟希望继续与中国保持对话，并为践行多边主义作出表率。

Merkel made the remarks at her routine press conference, when she answered a question about how Germany would strengthen cooperation with China to tackle common challenges like unilateralism.

默克尔是在例行新闻发布会上发表上述言论的，当时她正在回答一个关于德国将如何加强与与中国的合作以应对单边主义等共同挑战的问题。

At a daily news conference on Sept. 2, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said the world needs to choose between multilateralism and unilateralism, openness and isolation and cooperation and confrontation. China hopes to continue to work with Europe to promote ties, safeguard multilateralism and free trade and contribute to world peace, Hua said.
