The sixth typhoon, Mekkhala, has come into being this morning in waters of the South China Sea. It is expected to make landfall on the southern coastal area of East China's Fujian province tomorrow morning, bringing rain to the coastal province.

Some cities in Guangdong province have issued a white alert for Typhoon Mekkhala, including Shantou, Shanwei and Chaozhou. A white alert for typhoon, a special meteorological disaster warning signal in Guangdong, ranks lowest in the province's fiver-tier, color-coded weather warning system.

Under the influence of Mekkhala, some regions in Guangdong, including Guangzhou, will see rainfall and thunderstorms starting August 12 (Wednesday), which will at the same time weaken the high temperature dominating the province at present.

Typhoon Jangmi, the fifth typhoon of the year, is moving closer to South Korea's southern resort island of Jeju on Monday (August 10), and is expected to make landfall in southern coastal regions of South Korea later today, the National Meteorological Center said.

The center added that Typhoon Jangmi will not bring downpours but strong winds to some parts of waters around East China.
