China urges U.S. to discard Cold War mentality.

The United States should discard its Cold War mentality, zero-sum game mindset, and ideological prejudice, and correctly view China and China-U.S. relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a press conference recently.

The website of the U.S. Department of Defense published an article which cites U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper as saying that the United States is in an era of great power competition, which means that the U.S.'s top strategic competitors are China, then Russia and that China is the bigger problem. He also accused China of wanting to rewrite the rules of the international order that have served the nations of the world, including China, so well since the end of World War II.
