This year also marks China's final push in completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and winning the battle against poverty.

2020年，是中国决胜全面建成小康社会、决战脱贫攻坚之年。

“Moderately prosperous society” refers to a status whereby people living in the country are neither rich nor poor. They've got sufficient living necessities and can pursue a better life.

After China's per capita GDP reached $1,000 by 2001, the CPC adjusted the country's economic development to realize the "Two Centenary Goals" of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects by 2020 and developing "a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful" by 2049.
