The U.S withdrawal from the WHO, "just another case showing the U.S is upholding unilateralism," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at a regular press conference on July 8.

The White House officially moved to pull the U.S. out of the WHO by submitting a notice of withdrawal to the United Nations effective on July 6, 2021.


It is dangerous and self-destructive for the U.S. to do so since WHO is an agency that makes the world and the United States safer amid the intensifying COVID-19 crisis, experts, lawmakers and other observers said. The current U.S. administration's penchant for unilateralism and frequent withdrawal from international agreements have had negative impacts on global stability.
