US President Donald Trump has formally started the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), officials said Tuesday.

 

China

 

1. Twenty-one people were killed and 15 others injured after a bus fell into a lake in the city of Anshun in southwest China's Guizhou province Tuesday, local authorities said.

2. The Chinese mainland reported 7 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, all imported. Hong Kong reported 5 new COVID-19 cases from overseas and 9 locally transmitted cases yesterday.

 

3. Guangzhou reported 1 new case and 3 asymptomatic carriers on Tuesday, all from Tanzania.

 

4. China on Tuesday issued an orange alert for rainstorms, as heavy downpours are forecast to hit vast stretches of the country.

 

5. Shexian county of east China's Anhui province canceled the exams of Chinese and math for the national college entrance examination, or gaokao, due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall. Exams for the two subjects, which should be finished on Tuesday as a national schedule, will be arranged to take place on another date.

World

 

1. The WHO will study "emerging evidence" on airborne transmission of COVID-19, after an international group of scientists concluded it could spread far beyond two meters.

 

2. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced on Tuesday that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus..

 

3. The U.S. said Monday that international students may have to leave the country if their universities switch to online-only courses for the 2020 fall semester due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Otherwise they will risk violating their visa status.

 

4. Georgia governor declares state of emergency following increased violence in Atlanta.

 

5. Disney will reopen its theme parks in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, marking the first of Disney's theme parks in the U.S. to welcome back guests after being closed for months.
