The first phase of Huangpu Tram Line 1 in Guangzhou's Huangpu district is expected to start service in July, according to local authorities. The initial phase, covering 7.9 kilometers with 11 stations, will run between Guangzhou Experimental School Affiliated to BNU (北师大实验学校) and Xinfeng Lu (新丰路).

Running from west to east, Huangpu Tram Line 1 is set to depart from the Xiangxue station of Guangzhou Metro Line 6 (香雪地铁站) and terminate at Yonghe Xinfeng station (永和新丰).
The whole 14.4-kilometer journey, with 20 stations planned, will take about 30 minutes. A single-way ticket will cost two yuan, according to the Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission.

Once the tram line is fully open to the public, passengers will be able to transfer to Guangzhou Metro lines 21, 7, and 6 at Changping Subway Station (地铁长平站), Shuixi (水西站) and Xiangxue (香雪站) stations, respectively.

Airlines to offer more express routes

China Southern Airlines, Asia's largest air carrier by fleet size, will join with Sichuan Airlines to launch more air express routes between Chengdu in Sichuan province, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in Guangdong province, and Beijing, the two airlines announced recently.
The new routes, set to start operation from July 1, will offer passengers more convenient services, such as free interchange of airlines and quick check-in and transfer services.
The average number of daily flights, according to the announcement, will be 16 between Chengdu and Beijing, 14 serving Chengdu and Guangzhou, and seven on the Chengdu-Shenzhen route.
Passengers should apply for the express services four hours ahead of the departure of their original flights, the airlines said. Passengers of China Southern Airlines can access the services by calling its official hotline, 95539; while those of Sichuan Airlines can call 95378 or apply at airports' ticket counters in Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Beijing.
