2020春天来临，当全世界的医生和卫生专业人员都在努力拯救生命时，82岁的著名艺术家大卫霍克尼决定为这个被病毒感染的世界尽自己的一份力量。霍克尼寄出了一幅名为“记住 它们（病毒）不能取消春天”的新画作，以鼓舞全世界人民的精神。他用iPad创作的这一组画作《春天来了》，其中有20幅力作集中描绘了东约克郡的田园风光。与他以往的油画作品相较，田园题材是大卫一向的最爱，画面保留了他惯用的鲜明的色彩，和平板绘画特有的电子笔触，但完全不影响画家对树枝树叶的描绘，工具完全不会对画家作品的艺术性造成影响，他在作品备注为综合材料。

大卫·霍克尼，1937年生于英国布拉德福德。如今被称为“英国艺术教父”的他，早在11岁时就知道自己要当一名艺术家，26岁时已名声大噪。他与安迪·沃霍尔齐名，无疑是当今国际画坛最具影响力的大师之一，被称为“最著名的英国在世画家”。他创作出了近半个世纪以来最有识别度的生动图像。他的艺术生涯横跨了多个 领域，包括从拼贴摄影到歌剧舞台设计，从用传真机制作画作，到深入研究艺术史上的古典名家如何利用光学仪器进行创作。而他的作品也几乎包括所有可以使用到 的媒材，包括油画、水彩、摄影、印刷版画，并一直使用时代最前沿的科技参与创作，包括传真机、激光影印机、计算机，以及近年来使用的视频、iPhone手 机、iPad等设备。

纽约时间2018年11月15日19时53分(北京时间11月16日上午8时53分），佳士得拍卖行的“战后及当代艺术晚拍”上，英国艺术家大卫·霍克尼（David Hockney）的代表作《艺术家肖像（泳池及两个人像）》（Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)）以无底价方式起拍。19点43分，在所有人的期待下，佳士得全球总裁彭凯南宣布以1800万美元起拍，报价者频频，后进入拉锯战，由佳士得美洲部主席马克·波特和另一电话委托者竞价，经过在7000万美元段的艰难缓慢攀升，最终落槌在此前预期的8000万美元，计佣金后成交价为9031.25万美元，折合人民币6.26亿元，一举超越美国艺术家杰夫·昆斯（Jeff Koons），同时突破了自己于今年5月刚刚缔造的个人最好拍卖成绩，成为当今在世艺术家中拍卖纪录最高者。
