Cherry blossom (樱花)

The Wushan campus of the South China Agricultural University (SCAU) now has a plethora of fully blooming cherry trees. The university has over eight varieties of eye-catching cherry blossoms, with different colors and petal shapes. Baomo Garden in Panyu district also provides lovely scenes with blooming cherry blossoms and elegant pavilions, rockeries and lakes. And ladies dressed in traditional Han Chinese clothing (Hanfu) can be seen from time to time in the garden. Also, Dongshajiao Lu (东沙角路) in Yuexiu district, Trendsee Cherry Blossom Aulacese Park in Conghua district (从化天适樱花悠乐园), and Tianye Green World in Qingyuan city (清远佛冈田野绿世界) are also ideal destinations that fans of cherry blossoms are certain to love.

Kapok (木棉)

With an upright stem and flaming red flowers, the kapok tree really stands out regardless of what grows around it. Planted all over Guangzhou, kapok trees can easily be seen along streets and in parks. Recommended viewing spots for kapok flowers include Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Yuexiu Park, Yanjiang Xilu (沿江西路) and Lingyuan Xilu (陵园西路).

Golden trumpet tree (黄花风铃木)

Mountains in Conghua Lvtian town erupt with an amazing display of yellow, trumpet-shaped blossoms in March. The trumpet tree is one of the most beautiful flowering trees in the world, as its bright blooms fill the sky in spring with vivid yellow color for several weeks. Great places to appreciate the frenzy of trumpet tree blossoms include Tianhe Park, Baiyun Lake Park, Zhujiang Park, Linjiang Dadao (临江大道), and Jingxi Nanfang Hospital (京溪南方医院).

Bauhinia variegate (紫荆花)

Orchid-like blossoms in bright pink, purple and white literally cover the tree, with a delicate sweet fragrance. You may want to take a stroll in Dongshan Lake Park, Luhu Park, Haizhu Wetland Park, or Renmin Beilu to take in the beauty of Bauhinia variegate flowers and enjoy a lovely retreat.

Rapeseed flower (油菜花)

Hongshan village in Huadu district gets immersed in a sea of bright-yellow rapeseed flowers every year during March. The village has 200 mu (about 13 hectares) of rapeseed fields in full bloom, which attracts butterflies and bees to perform "spring dancing." With the stunning flower display, the village lives up to its reputation for being "the most beautiful countryside in Guangzhou." Mingzhu Tower in Baiyun Mountain also provides a great view of golden rapeseed flowers. 

Mucuna gigantean (禾雀花)

Resembling thousands of tiny sparrows perching on trees, Mucuna gigantean blossoms can be found in Liuhua Lake Park, South China Botanical Garden, Shimen National Forest Park, Tianlu Lake, and Huanghuagang Park.
