3月4日，广州市区融媒体中心客户端——新花城正式开设英文频道。
新花城英文频道由广州日报报业集团倾力打造，致力于成为立足广州、辐射湾区、沟通世界的华南地区首选英文线上平台。它将为在穗工作、学习、生活的外国人提供新闻和城市服务资讯，同时，也将成为世界了解广州的一个重要窗口。
作为国家中心城市、粤港澳大湾区核心引擎之一，广州不仅是一个有着2200多年历史的文化名城，也在推进“一带一路”建设的过程中日益散发着国际化大都市的魅力。一年两度、规模盛大的广交会每年更是吸引数十万名来自全球各地的买家驻足这个“千年商都”。
数据显示，广州来穗外国人总量多年位居全国各大城市第三位。截至2019年7月，广州全市共有在住外国人约8.34万人，常住（居住半年以上）外国人5.5万人。
此外，外国驻广州总领事馆共有65个，近300家世界500强企业在广州投资发展。

新花城英文频道正是应这种时代需要而开设。
目前，在疫情防控的关键阶段，发布与疫情防控有关的英语资讯，为在穗外国友人提供安全防护建议，是刚刚上线的新花城英文频道的工作重心。
未来，英文频道将常设What’s New （本地最新）、Policy(政策)、Business（营商环境）、Service（服务）、Culture(文化)、Entertainment(娱乐)、Travel（旅游）等栏目，在讲好中国故事、广州故事，充分展现广州城市气质的同时，提供餐饮、交通、购物等一系列城市生活指南，全方位地服务来穗和在穗外籍人士。

English-language portal launched on city’s official news app
An English-language portal has been launched on Guangzhou's official news app, “新花城,” with the aim of providing the world with up-to-the-minute news and service information on Guangzhou and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The portal is the first of its kind in South China, launched by Silk Road Post, the city’s only official English news outlet under Guangzhou Daily Group.
The need for timely, accurate and helpful information for expats in Guangzhou is the first and most significant concern of this portal.
Guangzhou, with a history of over 2,200 years, has always been a hub and destination for foreigners coming for business and travel. The city had 83,400 expat residents through July of 2019. Sixty-five foreign consulates general have set up operations in Guangzhou, and some 300 Global Fortune 500 companies have settled and thrived in the city. It’s of utmost importance that foreigners living in or visiting Guangzhou can get the precise information they need.
The portal, for now in its early stage, will update readers with the latest news on the coronavirus epidemic and the measures taken by the local government to control the disease. It will keep expats informed of any changes that may affect their lives in the city.
Moving forward, the portal will connect Guangzhou to the world, cover news information ranging from policies, business, service, culture, entertainment and travel, and present foreign readers the most authentic Guangzhou in a flourishing GBA.
As the name of the app, “新花城” (New Flower City), indicates, the English portal will bring the open, innovative and blooming flower city of Guangzhou to your fingertips. The app is available on both iOS and Android devices.
